I know, I know, I'm playing catch-up already. However, I'd collected a few days of data before I got the chance to get to a computer and start this blog, so here we go: Day 1. I hadn't started recording wildlife yet, so it's just ships. They're recorded in the following format: Name of Ship (Port of Origin) / direction of travel. Any notes on the vessels are included with an *. I wasn't always able to record the port of origin, but I did y best. If I didn't get it, it's listed as unknown.

*The Coral Emeralds and Florida Voyager passed each other at 9:36AM.
10:20 AM Triton (unknown port); tugboat pulling barge of sawdust / upriver
11:32 AM Triton returns without barge / downriver
2:03 PM Lord Wellington (unknown port) / upriver

* Huge sound of metal crashing before sighting vessel - think it was the anchor being let down. It came into view and belched black smoke, coming to a rest in front of me. Conversations in both Spanish and English could be heard over a loudspeaker, but I couldn't tell the gist of the conversation. It was still there at the end of the survey.
End Survey: 6:30 PM
