9:00 AM Start Survey.

10:44 AM Filia Glory (Panama) / upriver

11:28 AM Two tugboats hitched together pulling a really long set of pipes. Apparently, the tugs ended up dropping off the pipes near the other mammal spotter, anchoring, lighting, and putting buoys on either end. Still there when we left.

In this image you can see the tug at the rightmost edge of the picture, while the end of the pipe is just at the leftmost edge of the picture, and the pipes themselves just a long black streak along the water:

Here is the frontmost end of the pipes:

And the pipes as a whole:

1:59 PM Triton pulling a sawdust barge, the Brusco 250. However, the barge was swinging oddly behind the tug - not staying in line with it as usual. It swung up to 45 degrees off from the line of the tug. There was something white dragging a ways behind the barge. I couldn't figure out what was causing the barge to oscillate so much behind the tug.

Here you can see how, even on this straight part of the river, the barge is at a wildly different angle than the Triton:

2:38 PM Williumberg? Hard to read name. One of the tugs that pulled the long set of pipes heads back downriver.

3:03 PM Gitta Oldendorff (Panama) / upriver

3:17 PM Copious numbers of ladybugs have been landing everyone on me, the car, the bags, the sand, everywhere! Otherwise, it's been a very quiet day. Windy at start, but calm and sunny now.

3:42 PM Triton returns, minus it's barge, heading downriver.

4:00 PM A spider flies away on a balloon of pure silk, a little spec drifting out across the sand.

5:52 PM Huge flocks of geese obscure the whole horizon in a mass migration. They are all headed downriver, which is the exact opposite direction of all the other smaller flocks of geese that I've seen go by.

6:10 PM End Survey.
