7:00 AM Survey Start
7:26 AM Morning light beginning to filter through the misty trees across the water.
7:41 AM Sunrise getting into full swing now.
8:41 AM Confidence Ocean (Panama) / downriver
Boat obviously full & heavy in the water compared to when it went upriver.
9:59 AM Morning sunrise giving way to faint misting and grey.
11:09 AM Small tug and barge called Tenasillahe. The barge apparently named after Tenasillahe Island, which is near where we are on the Columbia. It came from downriver, turned around the island, and headed back downriver on the other side of the island.
11:56 AM Tug: Manfried Nystrom (La Conner, WA) / upriver
12:22 PM Bald eagle flew upriver
1:20 PM Ocean Minerva (Panama) / downriver
Crossed paths with the Capt Stefanos, which then crossed paths with the tug Manfred Nystrom coming back the other way!
1:22 PM Capt Stefanos (Nassau) / upriver
1:23 PM The crossing
1:23 PM Tug Manfred Nystrom / downriver
1:24 PM Manfried Nystrom and Capt Stefanos cross
1:44 PM Tug Betsy L (Portland, OR) / downriver
1:53 PM Flock of mergansers
2:17 PM Tenasillahe heads back along path it had come earlier, this time with a load of trucks.
I particularly like the truck at the prow:
